For sale at Sotheby’s: ring belonging to Jane Austen, passed down from Jane to her sister Cassandra, and then through various Austen descendants. It is believed to be ondontalite, set in gold, and is made by T. West, Goldsmith, Ludgate Street, near St. Paul’s. A descriptive note by Eleanor Austen, the third owner and wife to Jane’s brother Rev. Henry Thomas Austen, accompanies the ring.
