THE KID - 1921
They are being separated by the state as it is found out the tramp is not his real father (though he has cared for him from an infant), the terror that they both show at this injustice just tears at your heart, you can see little Jackie mouthing the words “I want my Daddy, I want my Daddy”, the music that Charlie Chaplin composed for this scene is very powerful.
I am utterly unable to watch this scene without crying; just seeing these photos makes me tear up. The music is extraordinary and brilliantly underscores the pathos of the scene; when something funny happens at the denouement of this sequence, the belly laughs contain sighs of relief as well. Not many people can make you laugh and cry within a few moments, but Charlie can.

Connie presents his hands to the Sacred Altar of Hand Porn and upon closer examination, they are deemed not only exceptional but the standard by which all others shall be measured. He also gets extra bling points for his faaaabulous jewelry, especially the earrings! (I had some just like those back in the Eighties.)

If you Google the term, “manly prow standing,” this really should be the first image result, although this is instead.

“I am offended by how incredibly sexy this Rajah is! I demand that you find another less scorchingly attractive ruler immediately because we cannot possibly conduct diplomatic affairs—uhm, that is, relations—erm, negotiations—with such a distractingly sexy monarch!”
I blame Conrad and his ability to play a heartbreaking jackass.
I mean LOOK AT HIM. Half the time he’s acting like a little shit who you’d want to smack in the face in real life(provided he didn’t have any tigers) and then BOOM PRETTY ANGST.
By the end of the movie you want to cuddle him and make him a cup of tea for Christ’s sake!
He reminds me of that other heartbreaking little shit that I love so mu-
STOP IT THAT’S NOT NICE.
I applaud the innate truth of this post. :D
Prince Ayan III, the Maharajah of Bengal—destroyed by love and his own obsession. (I couldn’t bear to smaller it down, so click for full size.)

Check out the Veidt belly action. He does it all throughout this scene, too. Holy crap.
OMG, I never noticed that before! I’m always too busy thinking about how marvelously snake-like his movements & posture are when Ayan is in predatory mode.
*watches Connie’s tummy obsessively from now on*

Conrad Veidt shall sit here consumed with lust.
…ironically, the same thing I’m doing here while looking at this gif. *tries putting tongue back in mouth, fails*

That says it all, really. Much more to be posted soon, so steel yourselves for the forthcoming onslaught of faux-Indian genuine Pretteh!
