The longer I watch Abismo de Pasión, the more convinced I become that Sabine Moussier is a veritable Goddess of Hair Porn. She’s always been great at playing these kind of tempestuous hair-tossing divas, but in this novela, it’s like her hair should be given separate credit—it’s practically an individual entity. And it’s glorious.

I can clearly remember OLTL back in 1990/1991 when the character of Todd first came to be. He was a rude, racist jerk who was friends with Kevin Buchanan. I don’t think Todd actually said “the N word”, but I can remember a scene when his character’s asshole-ness was really coming to fruition, where he said something incredibly racist to Kevin’s then girlfriend. Ugh…can’t remember her name but remember that scene…he sort of came on to her, she brushed him off, he got nasty.
I have often been partial to the villains, perhaps because the actors have such fun playing the roles…but I suppose it’s also because I’ve always believed every villain has a decent side. (What can I say, I am a romantic. lol) I took a liking to Todd from the very first time he came on screen. He was attractive, but at the time I wasn’t fawning over his looks, but there was something about the actor…about his presence on screen that drew me in.
OLTL’s notorious gang rape scene was horrendous..it was truly scary to watch and sent chills up my spine. Todd was a scumbag. He was a rapist. He was brutal. Months after Marty’s rape happened, he went on to terrorize Nora and nearly killed her. But damnit…I enjoyed every moment of it! I totally rooted for him, lol. Well, I rooted for him to live through the nasty shit he was doing on screen. I mean, seriously, the character deserved to die but the actor was too valuable to lose, in my opinion. I was pissed when Nora scarred his face (in self-defense, but still!) I was there when Todd’s character started to grow. I was rooting for him & Rebecca, and loved that in time they had his character scared of sex because he didn’t know how to be nice to a woman during sex. I remember him & Blair meeting in that bar, becoming friends, finally having sex and her slowing his actions down. She was a little scared because of his past…it’s amazing what my memory has stored away. 0_o
He left, he came back. He was dead, he wasn’t dead. He was bad, he was really, really bad. He was one actor, and then another. Married, divorced. Married, divorced. Married, divorced and oh yeah…married, divorced. lol. All these years, all the storylines, all the changes, all the good stuff and bad stuff…I was right there for it all.
So yeah, this has turned in to my love letter to Todd Manning, one of the best characters in daytime history, IMO. Love him then, love him now.
I hope he thrives on General Hospital, and brings Sonny down. :D
What a wonderful love letter to one of my all-time favorite soap opera characters & actors. Roger Howarth’s performance this week on General Hospital brilliantly validated why he’s held some of us in thrall for twenty years; by turns heartbreaking and hilarious, he showed why there will only ever be one Todd Manning—certain cold dead fish-eyed pretenders to the throne notwithstanding. ;)
As well, these earlier photos show that while I might go on about Philip Glenister’s glorious golden locks, there’s only one true King of Hair Porn for me, and that man is Roger Howarth circa 1993-95. RRROWRRR!! *fans self*

It’s been years since I watched The Witches of Eastwick—as I tend to avoid Jack Nicholson movies whenever possible—but this confirms my memory of it being a complete & total Festival of 80’s Hair Porn. Whenever they re-release a special edition of it on DVD, it should come with a coupon for Root Boost.

Philip Glenister. Oberst Heinrich Baron Von Rheingarten, Island at War.
The world is full of difficult moral judgements. For me, though? Philip Glenister looking hot in a uniform > Philip Glenister playing a Nazi. I regret nothing! <3
As I said at the LJ genehunt comm a while back—& someone recently pointed out, & liked—the Baron is welcome to invade my pants at any time.
Also, in terms of my three favorite filmic Nazis, while Conrad Veidt in Casablanca (and Escape and Nazi Agent and…) had an unfair advantage, plausible-accent-wise, The Glenister acquits himself far more admirably than David Morrissey in Captain Corelli’s Mandolin—as I may have noted before, poor Big Davey’s accent is a bit too much Vienna-by-way-of-Liverpool, alas (though indeed, that’s half the fun of watching him in it [along with how smokin’ hawt he looks in the uniform]—anything to save me from watching Nicolas Cage instead *shudder*).
Though don’t even get me started on the single most remarkable element in Island At War—in icon #24 here, I’ve already conveyed my sentiments on the matter.

Of course Herr Veidt’s performance as Balduin will always be my favorite, but I do love this poster for the Walbrookian remake of The Student of Prague (a.k.a. Anton Socks It To Us With More Hair Porn Than We Can Possibly Handle).
I also like the optical illusion of the broken mirror making it seem as if Anton is wearing one very long glittery earring. Darling, you’ve never looked more FABULOUS! :D
